What is 'Original Intent' on Crazed Angels?
Original Intent is a showcase and exploration of artist-lawyers and/or lawyer-artists. Original Intent explores the work as well as the "how did it come to this" behind the work.
Why does the name 'Original Intent' mean?
Original Intent is a method of constitutional interpretation focused on identifying the original meaning of the words being construed. Original Intent seeks to reveal the intentions or original understanding of the framers of the Constitution. The greatest controversies over original intent usually surround the role of the Supreme Court in deciding cases. The debate is huge and way too big for discussion here (and by me), but the basic gist of disagreement is whether the courts should keep changing times in line with the original Constitution or keep the Constitution in line with the changing times.
Why 'Original Intent' for lawyer-artists and artist-lawyers?
Well first, the name Original Intent is just really great. It's thought-provoking and deep and might lead others to think that I'm far more intellectual than I actually am.
Second, I think that many lawyers and artists struggle with their development as the professional and personal either collide or appear to be irreconcilable. To me, the most compelling intersection of lawyering and art-ing is the process an individual goes through to either discover or rediscover something that was there all along. The public doesn't see many lawyers as artists but I think an artist would easily see the artististic in many lawyers.
What is the nexus between lawyers and art?
If I told you, this journey would be really short and far less interesting. :-)

Nexus is from the Latin past participle ofnectere, which means to bind. Using words from the Latin helps lawyers to sound smarter and, thus, will be used frequently herewithinto.
