Hey, folks! It's LITERARY JOURNAL MONDAY!
Woo Hoo!
"What? Isn't it TRY A REALLY WEIRD SUSHI ROLL MONDAY? I'm confused."
I can hear you now.
But no. It is, indeed, LITERARY JOURNAL MONDAY.
You may wonder when this literary tradition began. The answer would be ten minutes ago when I thought of it.
Woo Hoo!
Did I mention the 'Woo Hoo' portion of the tradition?
Well 'Woo Hoo' is part of the LITERARY JOURNAL MONDAY tradition.
Today's offering for LITERARY JOURNAL MONDAY is Barrelhouse. "Hey! What's Barrelhouse?"
I can hear you now. And isn't it funny how I can hear you now but I can never seem to hear you when we're sitting right next to each other?
Barrelhouse is a print journal featuring fiction, poetry, interviews, and essays about music, art, and the detritus of popular culture. Barrelhouse is also a web site that regularly posts new short fiction, nonfiction, interviews, and random stuff.
So why did I pick Barrelhouse for the maiden voyage of this new tradition? Three reasons, to be exact.
FIRST, Barrelhouse is fiction, poetry, interviews, AND essays! Its the literary Target! It's the literary journal for people like ME! People who need a bit of pop culture and smarminess after a really beautiful bit of poetry.
SECOND, Barrehouse has a great color scheme on its website! It's GREAT! And soon to be MY color scheme!
THIRD, and most important, Barrelhouse refers to one of my most almighty favorite male singer songwriter dudes in the world: Bruce Cockburn.
If you haven't experienced Bruce Cockburn, oh man.... you have one morereally great thing in life to look forward to.
Paradox and contrast Variety and change History repeats But it's never the same We've got this time We've got this rhythm Till the whole thing comes apart Like light through a prism and we dance and we dance and we dance...
